The National Institute of Statistics and Demography (INSD) is the official statistics service of Burkina Faso. Created as a public administrative establishment by decree n ° 2000-508 / PRES / MEF of October 27, 2000 taken by the President of the Republic and endowed with legal personality and financial autonomy, it is placed under technical supervision. the Ministry in charge of statistics (Ministry of Economy and Development; decree n ° 2006-003 / PRES / PM of 6 January 2006 on the composition of the Government of Burkina Faso) and the financial supervision of the Ministry in charge of finance. Its statutes were revised by Decree N ° 2007-252 / PRES / PM / MEDEV / MFB of May 11, 2007. It conducts its activities within the general framework of the national statistical system governed by Law n ° 012-2007 / AN of May 31, 2007 on the organization and regulation of statistical activities.
